This question may have already been answered, but I'm having a hard time finding it, if it was. How long does it take for a sale to show on the month-to-date report? In other words, if someone orders my book on Kindle, does the report instantly update, or does it take a certain amount of time before I actually see it?
Not this month, but usually, I see sales by nine or ten a.m. eastern time the first day of the month. (In June I had none until the second day.) So I've always figured that they are pretty much real-time. Perhaps the sales were made after midnight Pacific time and there actually was an eight or nine hour delay.

It pretty much instantly updates. Being new to the site, I had the same question and, just to see how it worked, I bought a copy of my own book. My month-to-date record showed a copy bought as soon as I called it up. The Kindle store ranking, however, took some time. There is a definite lag there. Today I sold two copies. I had three sales when I checked 4 hours ago and I have 4 sales listed now.
My month to date (and all other) reports don't work. How do I get into this? Would like to know sales since I started on May 21. They are certainly minimal, but am curious how this works. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.
Click on Amazon DTP at upper left of this page. Log in with the same email address & password you used to create your account. You should see your DTP Dashboard with your book(s) in alphabetical order. There should be a tab for REPORTS. Click on that.
I would like to add to drewdawg63's question, if I may. To give a little background, I started on the first of this month, and I have had several family members and friends tell me that they bought my book. From where they're telling me their stopping points are in the book, I know they are all past the preview sections that Amazon gives you. "Why is it taking so long for their purchases to post in my reports?"
Up until June, I had the impression that Kindle sales were posted within an hour or two at most. In the past month (I was in the beta test, so dealt with the new reports for most of June) I get the impression that they are a day behind.
Both may be wrong, but it seems to be fairly consistent that I no longer see any sales for the first day of the reporting week, whereas I always did before (see sales on the first day of the reporting month, in that case).
That's good to know about any future kindle sales . I still wonder though... The people that have purchased my book so far do not have a kindles. They are purchasing for PCs and their Android devices. Will that make a difference in reporting? Just trying to figure out if there is a problem with their payment options etc. Thanks for your help .
It shouldn't make any difference. I accidentally bought a copy of my book on the iPhone (little icon, big thumb) and it was credited to my account. I "returned" it, and the sale was deducted from my account.
