Credit Card Not Charged - How to Resolve?

I started my first ad campaign, Sponsored Product, it was approved, and then I was notified that my credit card cannot be charged. When I tried to contact them to resolve the issue, I was told by Vendor Central that I was not a vendor and therefore an email from my email address (which is not in the database because I'm not a vendor) would not be responded to.

This is a KDP ad, not a vendor ad. But if they will not respond to my email, how can I straighten this out?

Note: there's nothing wrong with my credit card, it's been my default payment on Amazon forever and I use it constantly.

They don't charge your card until the campaign is over. It's very misleading -- what you enter there is only the total amount you're willing to pay. I have a campaign that has run a month with not one click, so no charges yet.

Actually, they discontinued the campaign.

Notjohn is correct in that abourt the 2nd or 3rd of the month you'll get charged for accumulated clicks (for the previous month) and a new running total for the current month will be split off.

What it looks like has happened is that they tried to do a test charge on your account and were rebuffed by your CC company. You might be able to get an error code and further clarification by calling the 800 number on the back of your credit card and see what those folks say.

NJ: You're not getting any clicks? This July has been horrid for impressions and clicks even though I haven't made any changes to my campaigns except to add a keyword or two and/or bump up a few bids. Totally nuts as compared to June.

If you're running KDP ads (AMS), you're not a vendor. Try the Contact link at lower right to communicate with KDP, and, as already noted, you need to talk to your credit card folks.

That makes perfect sense, I thought sure you were right--but no. I called my credit card company and they have no record of it.

Thanks, I've determined it's not my card, and I've tried to contact. My first attempt resulted in the notification from Vendor Central, I've tried again twice, and am waiting for a response ... did get a reply to the last message from the vendor people I think, who said they've forwarded it to the appropriate team ... You'd think they'd be eager to help me give them money. :-)

That puzzles me. A Vendor sells stuff on Amazon. Of course a KDP publisher could also be a Vendor (selling print editions through Amazon Advantage, say) but being a KDP publisher doesn't make anyone a Vendor.

@Joseph: well, I haven't looked lately, but last time it did, there were 700-odd impressions and zero clicks. Obviously I chose the wrong ocean liners to tie my dinghy to.

Is it a "sponsored" ad or a "display" ad? For a sponsored ad, you get a click for every 500 to 1500 impressions. For a display ad, you should get a click for every 50-150 impressions. At least, that's been my experience and what I've gleaned from talking with others.

If it's a display ad, I'd check your ad copy. For that matter, you could always use the Copy feature to create another campaign, change the wording on the ad, and try that. Running multiple campaigns for the same book is permitted, and you can see which campaigns do better.

Again, one last thing to check: Double-check your campaign acceptance e-mail to be sure it doesn't go on to say that your ad can't be run on Kindles for some reason (usually "grammar"). If that's so, your impression counts will be seriously meager.
