Payment query

Hi,

Just wanted to check in if there are fees for publishing.

My royalty payment was supposed to be around £20.45 (after conversion from USD), and instead was £13.84. Currency exchange hasn't fluctuated enough in the past week to account for the missing £6.60.

Thank you.

Can you furnish more details?

If you are in the UK, did you fill out the tax interview and give your National Insurance number? If you didn't, then you will have had 30% of your earnings withheld for US taxes. (This is US law, not Amazon's decision.)

If you go ahead and do the tax interview, you won't have the 30% withheld in the future. You could try to file a form (1040NR) with the International Revue Service to get your 6 pounds back, but it's probably not worth the effort (it's a very complicated process).

Does the $20.45 figure possibly span two months? If so, your current payment would be only for the month up for payment. E.g., June royalties would be paid about August 29. May royalties about July 29. (60 days after the end of the month in which the royalties were earned.)

Check your payments tab. It will give you the FX rate used by your bank. And if you're calculating your royalties from raw sales, there is a delivery fee if you've opted for the 70% rate. Plus if there were sales on the U.S. site from non-storefront countries they are garner a 35% royalty.

Thanks so much! Good to know. Yeah I won't bother for the 6 quid but will do this for the future.

Thanks again!

There is some new stuff in my universe. (A private one.) Like Larry Niven's Known Universe.
We have added a new review of the Valerian movie, also the Azimov foundation series, to
Book Five in my series. We shall send that guide (only 3 pages, but very important analysis)
to a new, more conventional publisher. This stuff is better than fiction. What happens now is
very hard to predict. I have recently haunted some large hotels near a large airport. The
ambience is spooky. (Vibes of past Cons.) Astronomy is where it's at. I am very "focused" so
I need to open up more to new experience. It is more subliminal. The airports of Munich &
Paris have subways going right into the city. How convenient.

Best short story: "Rain" in Book 4
Best short essay: On the Year 2290 in Book 4
An "addon" of 3 pages in Book 5, called "Bogus galactic societies"

I just tacked them onto older books.
Formatting seems to fall into place on its own. Just throw it in, and see if it takes.

You would be best to start a new thread when you have a new post (new question).
What country are you in?

Hello.
After almost 5 years I happened to find my Kindle log in and password and I was going through my account. I noticed that some monies were paid somewhere, but I have never received anything! I also want to start receiving payments and royalties, but I live in Albania and Amazon doesn`t do wire transfers here. How can I get my money sent to me via a cheque?
Best Regards

Investigate Payoneer. it's a debit/credit card with accounts that look like U.S. bank accounts, and Amazon will pay into those. There's at least an annual fee involved, so do research the matter before you make a decision. Search the forum for "Payoneer" and only look at posts 6 months old or NEWER.

Best of luck.

I'm feeling a bit scared now - I'm from the UK and did the tax interview earlier today as I was setting up my KDP account (I haven't published anything yet), but I definitely didn't type in my National Insurance number anywhere. I have my number memorised from years of having to write it out and would have remembered if I had entered it on the form. The form submitted okay though.

I read on another thread someone mentioned entering a UTR when doing the set-up. Again, I didn't see anything specifically asking to enter my UTR. I do have a UTR as I've been registered as self-employed for a couple of years now. Actually, the more I think about this, the more scared I'm feeling!

No need to be scared. they won't have you number until you enter it, but nothing horrific will happen. Start a new thread to get advice, this thread is now about 5 different things which is confusing for everyone. but the gist is go to your KDP account, click at the top where it says ''your name''s account. Go down past the banking info to the tax info, and fill that out.
