Thanks for taking the trouble to download Libre, looks as if I need to consider scrapping my old system and go for an updated Windows version.

Thanks again.

Sorry, didn't see your response earlier. You have the seventh page correctly showing 1 but the next page jumping to 6? That seems odd. Is there a page break between them or just text flowing naturally onto the next page? If there is a page break, try deleting it and putting a new one in (making sure the Start at Page box is not checked). If not, I have no idea.

My first page, the seventh, was numbered at 1 as required but the eighth page became No
6 and so on. I think I need a better understanding of the use of page styles to help overcome this, I notice that two or three individual pages are shown as First page

Can you figure out a way to erase the page numbers on the first six pages (assuming half-title, next page, title page, copyright page, TOC, next page)? That's what I did with my Guide, because I wanted to refer to images on pages 2 and 6. So I erased the numbers on 1, 3, 4, and 5, and let page one chapter one start on page 7. That's not ideal, but it's better IMHO than seeing numbers where they really don't belong. If you look at the title page on the first 100 books on your bookshelves, I will be very surprised if any has a title page that is paginated.

I used an ancient copy of Adobe Acrobat for this purpose. (It will do almost nothing else, but it will white-out stuff that doesn't belong.) Maybe one of the online freebies can do the same.

If all else fails, emulate the sub-title of Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb."

(Don't trust KDP to publish a print edition. Don't trust CreateSpace to publish an ebook.)

Good luck! -- NJ

Help, please.
Is anyone able to advise how to commence page numbering from the seventh page.
This is becoming a real problem for me, so any advice would be appreciated.

The bane of all self-pub authors with Word, Libre or OpenOffice. I'm not going to go into an extensive instruction on how to do it because it would pages and pages long. It took me quite a few hours to figure it out and get it to work almost every time. The one thing I will say is, you need to do become very familiar with setting Sections and breaking connections between Sections.

I have yet to get the hang of it consistently. I managed to get it right a few times. I saved a bit of that book and used it as a template. Not the ideal way but I got tired of the yelling.

Page numbering no longer a problem! - CS had the answer all the time, formatted interior templates. It works a treat.

My thanks to all who gave advice.
