My files were professionally set using kdp templates, but preview says pages don't fit. How can I adjust them once in preview?

If you're using a professional formatter, he should not be using kdp templates. Those are designed for people who are novices at formatting. If you've uploaded your file and the formatting is incorrect, you must reformat and upload the new over the old.

Most of us format our own files. It is pretty easy. Basically it's almost no formatting using and uploading Word. You check and recheck until you have it right.

What is preview.print?

I agree about templates, though I have used them when I had to (in the early days of POD services). But then I don't believe in throwing a Word doc at the KDP either.

This wouldn't be a KDP Print Beta paperback, would it? That might explain your dismay! Use CreateSpace for paperbacks.

It won't work. We have checked rechecked and rechecked and changed it. It won't work. The image has a leaf on it which appeared to offend. This was removed, then the preview promptly extended the branch out again until another leaf offended.

It will work if formatted properly. If you can't format your own work and don't want to learn how, then it's time to sack the idiot pretending to be a formatter, get out your original file, and turn it over to a real professional who doesn't have to use templates like a tyro. Just because people claim to know what they're doing doesn't mean they do. Buyer beware.

It will work, whoever is doing this for you just isn't very competent--are you paying them?

Amazon's new Kindle Create https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/AIEDQZJ8TVWZX is an amazing tool for formatting a manuscript. Although it's still in Beta, I downloaded it and used it for my first manuscript. Talk about WONDERFUL!

Creates table of contents, let's you PROPERLY format chapter headings and even first paragraph in the chapter.

See a grammar or spelling error - change it right there.

And it let's you see exactly how it will look on a Kindle, a tablet, phone, or even the Kindle app for your PC BEFORE you upload it to Amazon.

Try it out.

Editing and proofing in KC is a poor choice. Better to correct your original manuscript before using Amazon's latest magic wand.

OK, I give up. I'm a professional, commercial formatter, and when you say "KDP templates," I have absolutely NO idea what the hell you are talking about. Where did you get this template? What type of file are you putting up at the KDP print beta? A word file? A PDF? What?

Lastly, ANY commercial formatter that can't fix a simple print PDF when s/he made the source shouldn't be charging, so I hope for your sake that this is some friend who's just helping you out of the goodness of his/her heart.

He's a typesetter, used to all sorts of systems, and did beautiful work. If he'd used the templates I'd sent, he'd not have caused me the problems. I note that the very experienced cover designer also had problems with KDP beta. I too have done my own work in the past. However, I've found that things have changed for the worse since I last used KDP. The information isn't very clear, and is very sparse. What makes it worse is that the system doesn't allow you to wipe out your errors.
In the end, we did get it to work.

I was talking about print only. It had already been edited and typeset.

I wasn't editing or proofing. That had already been done. It was a matter of getting my typeset file through preview.

it was an obscure problem with bleed allowances. Re those who answered. Thanks for your efforts. I was asking about print only, and using the KDP beta. It was a PDF file. I have previously used KDP for ebook with no problem. It isn't so easy now. The changes were not for the better. Explanations are scarce and the system is unforgiving. You can't wipe out your errors.
