I tried entering my Canadian SIN number in the Tax Identification Number but it wasn't accepted. How should I proceed?

You need to follow the Canadian number with "EH".

Oh, I'm going to be punished for that joke.

There are a number of Canadian writers on the forums, and you should soon get an answer. Hang on.

Here's an old thread that says the SIN should be working:

There are also threads that indicate you need an ITIN (individual tax ID number), but see what others here say, first.

The Canadian insurance number should work. About two or three years ago they decided international authors didn't actually need the ITIN unless they were a corporation. Try putting it in again and make sure you've checked that you're Canadian.

That was my understanding.

The O.P. should be careful to indicate that they are publishing as an individual, and not as a business (if that is, in fact, the case).

Thanks everyone. I found my problem. I hadn't selected the non-US button.

Have you already identified yourself as having a Canadian mail address and bank?
