In the upload page, my book is showing to have a cover, but when I looked up my book in the kindle app, it did not have a cover. Why is this?

How did you get it to the app? Did you buy it? Did you download the converted "mobi" file and sideload it to the device with the app?

Buying it is the only certain way to see what it looks like.

The downloaded .mobi file for preview won't have a cover; at least, mine never do. As Notjohn said, the only way to see what your readers are getting is to buy your own book after it goes live.

Hmmm. Mine do, but I upload an ePub, which does have its own internal cover. But, the published product does NOT show two covers, so I guess I'm good (never received a complaint either).

Yeah. I uploaded an ePub and the cover art was included but it was a png and when I looked my book up on Kindle, it did not have a cover. So I converted my cover to jpg and re uploaded my manuscript, including the jpg cover this time in the kindle upload tool when prompted and still I don’t see the cover in the store. Help!

For best, most consistent results, use jpegs.

Changes to the cover are going to take a few days to catch up.

I don't include an internal cover in my ePub files because, at the time, the double-cover issue was rampant. Now, I'm too lazy to change my workflow. I still make two versions of my ePub files, a "coverless" one for KDP, and the regular one for everywhere else.
