One of my favorites. The "Rama II" sequels were not as good, although I think I only read two of them.

As for the socks: they crawl away during the night, in twos and threes, then head for the edge of the earth and fall off, only to be devoured by the dragons that sit there, waiting...

This does give me an idea for a new historical fiction story though, where Magellan is blackmailed by the Illuminati to fake a journey round the earth...

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have spent years grieving and worrying for those starving dragons and wondering why socks lose their partners. Personally I wouldn't eat anyone's sock, but then again I am not a dragon. At least nobody has called me a dragon for years. Seriously, to the OP, never query a review. It is a dangerous occupation. 1* reviewers are much fiercer than any dragon.

I don't post much, but OP, please get yourself a go pro and some helium balloons. It's so easy to 100% verify we live on a globe all by yourself. Kids do it all the time. On youtube, you can watch bobbleheads, beer, hamburgers, donuts, chairs, presidents, hello kitty, teddy bears... you get the picture, fly into space with an attached camera and every single one of them is over a globe! You can do this yourself. It's not necessary to believe in a flat earth to believe in intelligent design by a creator. In fact, I believe such a denial of obvious proof looks bad for the rest of the creationists who are intelligent enough to see the difference between true science and theory.

Are you suggesting that every single video is with a fish eye lens? Or, that none of the endless amount of videos prove the earth is a globe? lol I suggested the OP do it himself, he can use whatever lens he chooses.

Or as I said--just go up himself, in a pressurized aircraft, and see the curvature of the earth with his OWN EYES.

You know, I can see why people believe a lot of things that are outside the realm of scientific proof. Aliens, and whatever. But when you deny the bountiful evidence that can be seen with your own eyes, that's just a whole other issue. That's being willfully obdurate and unwilling to accept simple and undeniable proofs. (Gee, let me guess, now someone will say that the human eye--along with millions of camera lenses--can't work properly in a pressurized aircraft at 41K feet, so the view is being distorted. Right? and all the Astronauts are crazy, or in on a conspiracy.)

Here's my question: what's the BENEFIT, to anyone, anyplace, anywhere, trying to convince people that the earth is round, if it's flat? What product, or anything else, is being sold, based on that? What's the point of this massive, global conspiracy, to convince people that the world is round? I mean, those souls who've never been up in an airplane, and seen it for themselves? Cui Bono?

I confess, I am positively BOGGLED by this entire discussion. I thought I'd seen almost everything on the Net, but I admit, this particular, uh, set of beliefs had escaped me. BOGGLED.

Yes, I am, as most go pro cameras are standardly set to fish-eye. The bottom line is I can see where this is going and one thing I think that we can all agree upon is that this forum is not the place to discuss the globe versus flat earth. All your negative reactions to the topic are totally understandable as when I first came across the subject in March 2015, I too laughed at the idea as complete nonsense. What has clearly come across to me as that all of you have no knowledge or have done no research whatsoever on the flat earth model and thus are presenting straw man arguments as well as dismissing it out of hand. For those of you who are willing to take a few hours of your time to look into it and suspend disbelief if you have to I highly recommend Eric Dubay's you-tube channel. You can start by looking at his 200 proofs of the flat earth. I guarantee that if you actually watch the whole video and hopefully more that you will realise that the ideas presented are not so ridiculous as they first might have first have seemed. However, if you're just going to watch a matter of minutes and then dismiss it then you might as well not bother.

You're right. I don't know why I bother. I have a relative that believes the earth is flat, and teaches it to her child who I'm sure goes to school telling it. How embarrassing! Then, I make a simple suggestion on a forum and am sarcastically called clever by a person who thinks the earth is flat. I can't wrap my brain around it. Because of my relative (she's a close relative) I have done a bunch of research on the subject just to try to talk sense into her. She listens to some man, Rob Skiba. I listened to him to amuse her and laughed so hard, I cried. I think the reason this bothers me, is that it makes creationists look nuts and not all are. Some do not deny scientific fact. Again, I know you're right. My relative thinks the moon landing was fake, all pictures and videos of the earth are fake, and at some point giants are going to take over. It's exhausting, lol. As to the benefit question, my relative would simply tell you it's the devil. When questioned what the devil's motive would be since I doubt my opinion on the shape of the earth is considered a big sin, you get the 'it just is' answer. Might as well beat your head against a brick wall. :)

Art.... I can't deny fish eye lens exist and if you choose to believe they're utilized in every single video, I can't change that. I was only trying to point out that there are cheap, easy ways for the OP to verify this himself. As suggested, he could also just get on a plane. I don't know how to argue about what can be seen with the human eyeball and as pointed out, this isn't the place. Have a good day.

You claim to have 'done a whole bunch of research on the subject' yet you come across clearly as totally ignorant. Take my advice and watch Dubay or choose as I'm sure you will do to remain asleep

Now, I'm ignorant? Because I choose to go with the undeniable proof that I live on a globe? Is everyone who believes it's a globe ignorant? Or, just me?
