@L.M. Waites: to convert an OpenOffice file directly, try the free software from Alkinea: http://soft.alkinea.net/
Alternatively, you can open the openoffice file in Microsoft Word and save it as a Word file. After that, follow this tutorial.

Pretty damm good... of course, compared to last year, almost anything feels great.

Despite being given a 50/50 chance at the time of the diagnosis, the current diagnosis is "remission." although, 'm still in the process of "coming back"

...for example, my stamina has a long way to go to get to what I would consider "normal" ...but... hey.. I'm alive, so I am not complaining ;-)

Thanks for asking... last year was very "educational." I'm trying to come up with a "tips and tricks" booklet to help others faced with the process... there are a lot of "holes" along the path that's necessary to get through to the other side.

Glad to hear that you are doing well. Looking forward to your booklet (cancer research is my PhD specialty, BTW).

I don't suppose you have this downloadable file in some format other than mobi, do you? PDF would be nice.

Unfortunately, this ebook is enrolled in KDP Select and I cannot legally supply it in any format other than MOBI or from any non-Amazon website. But you can convert the .mobi file to PDF yourself, using Calibre.

Having struggled to read pdf content since adobe released the pdf file format decades ago, it's hard for me to understand why anyone would prefer pdf over mobi for reading material.

In addition, in the context here, reading this book using any of the kindle reader apps on any of the multitude of platforms (including pc and mac) will immediately help to illustrate and clarify the issues that are involved when preparing content for reading on a wide variety of devices, screen sizes, formats and os' that are currently in use for reading, both mobile and desktop.

I'm obviously guessing that Etienne is either not familiar or comfortable with kindle devices or apps, but, I can attest that using these readers as much as possible before and during preparation to publish in the KDP format will end up being invaluable toward the goal generating a good, easily readable work.

I don't own a Kindle and never will, just on general principles.

I do own a Nook tablet, and am quite comfortable with it.

As for PDF, it works just fine on my laptop and on my Nook.

I was hoping for another format of the tutorial so I wouldn't have to download yet another piece of software to convert it.

Sorry that my post apparently did not make the point I was aiming for.

From the Barns&Noble user forum;

"The easiest way to read Kindle books on a NOOK HD/HD+ (or on a rooted or dual-booted NC/NT) is via the Kindle app for Android (from Google Play)."

The assumption I made from your request is that you want to find out how to create kindle content. Sorry that it seems to have generated a negative reaction.

Thank you for that.

I went ahead and downloaded the free Kindle reading software, and can now read the file.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find the answer I was looking for, but will keep digging.

The next great war will be around 40 years from today, and unlike previous wars that were mostly over land, this one will be over food. The coming food shortage is no joke, and nothing can stop it except a steep and rapid decline in population.

With all the destruction Muslim terrorist groups are causing globally, some scientist will likely have the bright idea to create a pathogen that will be aimed at specific genes within the black population and wipe it out completely, with the rational that it will serve humanity as a whole to get rid of so many trouble makers while also freeing up food resources for those of us left alive. Creating and releasing such a pathogen is easy enough to do, and no one will ever know it was done. They just think it was a natural disease or virus that came about that only black folks could have like sickle-cell anemia.

Or . . . within 40 years the focus may have shifted off of blacks and onto a different group--the Chinese for instance, and for God only knows what reason. So they wipe out the Chinese population instead, freeing up 2/3 of the world's food resources overnight.

Governments may even simply try to wipe out whole people groups as a matter of survival with no other rational needed. But no one will ever admit to it. They'll just call it a new disease and an act of nature/God.

Thus, there will either be a coming physical war over food, or whole nationalities of people carrying the same DNA will suddenly start dropping dead all over the Earth. One or the other will happen, and it will happen during the lifetimes of our youngest grandchildren--perhaps much sooner.

WWIII Conspiracy Theory For The Day.
