Your book details, also called metadata, are the different book attributes you enter when setting up your book title. This information is used to create your book and your book’s detail page. Certain book details can be updated after publication to fix errors. Learn which attributes you can change and how to do it.
Note: If your book status is “In Review” or “Publishing”, you won’t be able to update your book until it is “Live” on Amazon.
After publishing your book, certain features are locked. These features can’t be updated unless you publish the book as a new title from your KDP Bookshelf.

To update book details like description, keywords, categories, territories, or price:
Once your book is updated, we'll review it again to ensure it meets our content guidelines. Learn more about timelines for updating published books.
For updates to your book's tites, subtitle, author, or ISBN, you will need to create a new edition. Visit Book Titles & Editions to learn more.

What book details can be changed after publishing
After publishing your book, certain features are locked. These features can’t be updated unless you publish the book as a new title from your KDP Bookshelf.

- ✔ : Book details that can be updated after publishing. Follow the instructions below to update your book details.
- ✗: Book details that are locked after you publish your book. To update these details, create a new edition of your book. Learn more about creating a new edition.
Note:
- *Adding the ISBN and Imprint to eBooks is optional. However, if you include them in your eBook’s set up, you won’t be able to complete updates after publishing or deleting the title.
- Book details can be updated for pre-order titles until the submission deadline. Visit our help page on pre-orders for more information.
Update your book details
Examples of updates that can be made: book description, keywords, categories, territories, and price.
To update book details like description, keywords, categories, territories, or price:
- Go to your KDP Bookshelf.
- Next to the book you want to update, click the ellipsis button ("…").
- Choose Edit details.
- Edit your book details.
- Click Save and Continue. Repeat this step on the Content page.
- At the bottom of the Pricing page, click Publish.
