Update Your Book Details
Update Your Book Details
Certain book details can be updated after publication. Learn which items you can change and how to do it.
To update book details:
Note: Certain details can’t be changed after your book is published. Books field will be locked while the books is in review/publishing status Learn more about what you can change.
Books on your bookshelf have a particular status assigned to them, which reflects where they are in the publishing cycle. Some of these statuses allow you to make changes to your book, and others don't. Learn more about your book status.
When updating book details that appear in your manuscript and on your cover, be sure to make the changes in your manuscript and cover too. If you significantly change your book, it’s considered a new edition and should be published as a new book. For example, if the page count changes by more than 10%, you should create a new title from your KDP Bookshelf and assign a new ISBN to your book. If you make minor changes, like fixing grammatical or spelling errors, it's considered the same edition.
To improve the shopping and reading experience for customers, if you significantly change your book title or author name, when submitting it as a new book, you're required to include the following disclaimer at the top of the description field:
"Previously published as [book title] by [author name]." Significant changes to both book title and author name aren't allowed.
After publishing your book, certain features are locked. These features can’t be updated unless republish the book as a new title from your KDP Bookshelf.
Note: Book details can be updated for pre-order titles until the submission deadline. View our Help page on pre-orders for more information.
