The Kindle Book Lending feature allows users to lend digital books they have purchased through the Kindle Store to their friends and family. Each book may be lent once for a duration of 14 days and will not be readable by the lender during the loan period.

All KDP titles are enrolled in lending by default. For titles in the 35% royalty option, you may choose to opt out of lending by deselecting the checkbox under "Kindle Book Lending," in the "Rights and Pricing" section of the title upload/edit process, but you may not choose to opt out a title if it is included in the lending program of another sales or distribution channel. For more details, see section 5.2.2 of the Term and Conditions.

For more information on lending please see our Kindle Book Lending Help page

The Amazon.com Kindle Store recently enabled a gifting feature that allows customers to purchase Kindle titles as gifts from Amazon.com wishlists and Kindle detail pages.

Customers who purchase your title as a gift will be charged the current sales price and royalties will be calculated based on the price and royalty option selected at the time the Kindle gift was purchased. Please note, royalties will not accrue until the gift recipient downloads your title. As with all Kindle sales, the gift recipients will have the option to return the gift within 7 days of downloading.

For more information on gifting, please read our Kindle Book Gifting Help page.

Please note: The Lending and Gifting options are not available for books purchased from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.de.
