What happened to Kindle Vella?

We made the difficult decision to wind down Kindle Vella effective February 26, 2025. We are grateful for all of the authors and readers who participated in Kindle Vella. While we remain committed to experimenting and testing new ideas to deliver unique and delightful experiences for both readers and authors, Kindle Vella didn't catch on as we’d hoped.

As of February 26, 2025, your Kindle Vella episodes and stories are no longer for available to purchase on Amazon.com. Any customer that purchased episodes prior to the program closing will be able to continue reading episodes on the free Kindle apps for iOS and Android.

Can I publish my Kindle Vella story as an eBook?

We strongly encourage you to republish any Kindle Vella stories as an eBook so that customers can continue to discover and enjoy them. Use Kindle Create or follow our eBook manuscript formatting guide to prepare your Kindle Vella story for eBook publishing. You can also review our KDP Jumpstart topic on preparing your manuscript for both eBook and print book publishing.

How will readers access my stories?

Any reader who has read or purchased episodes of your story will still be able to read them on the free Kindle apps on iOS and Android. We strongly encourage you to republish any Kindle Vella stories as an eBook so that customers can continue to discover and enjoy them. 

Can I download my Kindle Vella reports? 

The KDP Reports Kindle Vella Dashboard is no longer available. You can continue to see payments only in your Payments statement as usual.
