How to upload to KDP
We recommend deleting old files of your book from your computer before uploading new files of the same book to KDP. To upload your manuscript file:- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the ellipsis button ("…") under KINDLE EBOOK ACTIONS next to the book you want to upload.
- Choose Edit eBook Content.
- In the "Manuscript" section, click Upload eBook manuscript.
- Find your manuscript file on your computer and click Open.
- After we finish converting your file, you'll see a confirmation. This can take from five to seven minutes.
How to preview before publishing
Our Online Previewer tool shows you what your eBook look like on different devices tablets, phones, and Kindle e-Readers. Online Previewer supports enhanced typesetting features when available using these devices. The Previewer won't display details like title and author name. Those details will be included in your eBook when it's published.To use Online Previewer:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the ellipsis button ("…") under KINDLE EBOOK ACTIONS next to the book you want to preview.
- Choose Edit eBook Content.
- Scroll down to "Kindle eBook Preview" section and click Launch Previewer.
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the ellipsis button ("…") under the Kindle eBook Actions menu and click Edit eBook content.
- Scroll down to the "Kindle eBook Preview" section.
- Under "Downloadable Preview Options," click Preview on your computer and follow the steps to download your file.
Note: If you're uploading a textbook with interactive features, those features won't display in the Online Previewer or the downloadable preview. You'll need to use the Kindle Create previewer or download Kindle Previewer, which will also allow you to see how your book will look with enhanced typesetting conversion.

How to upload to KDP

- Click the ellipsis button ("…") under PAPERBACK ACTIONS next to the book you want to upload.
- Choose Edit Paperback Content.
- Scroll down to the "Manuscript" section.
- Click Upload paperback manuscript.
- Find your manuscript file on your computer and click Open.
- Once the content is uploaded, a "Manuscript uploaded successfully" message appears.
How to preview before publishing
Our Print Previewer tool shows you what your paperback will look like before you publish it. Print Previewer also checks for errors you need to fix before submitting for publication. After you submit your book, we manually check your interior and cover files. If we find any issues, we'll email you instructions on what to fix. Learn more about the paperback submission process.To use Print Previewer:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the ellipsis button ("…") under PAPERBACK ACTIONS next to the book you want to preview.
- Choose Edit Paperback Content.
- Scroll down to "Book Preview" section and click Launch Previewer.
You can also preview your paperback by ordering a physical proof copy.
