Goods and Services Tax (GST) for eBooks in Australia and India

eBooks sold to customers in Australia are subject to a 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST), and eBooks sold to customers in India are subject to an 18% GST. See below how GST affects your list prices and royalties in these marketplaces.

How GST applies to your list prices

List prices you set for Amazon.com.au and Amazon.in include GST. You don't need to calculate GST separately when setting your list prices.

If you set a worldwide list price on Amazon.com and don't set an individual list price for Amazon.com.au or Amazon.in, KDP converts your Amazon.com list price into local currency. That converted list price includes GST.

How GST affects your royalties

KDP deducts GST from your list price before calculating royalties on sales to customers in Australia and India. This is the same method KDP uses for all sales where taxes are collected from customers. Learn more on the Pricing Page.

Minimum and Maximum List Prices

The minimum and maximum list prices for the 35% and 70% royalty options include GST. Learn more about eBook List Price Requirements.
