Edit Bank Account Information

To ensure you’re paid on time, it’s important to enter account and banking information that matches the information your bank has on file. Incorrect or mismatched information between your KDP account and bank are the most common causes of payment holds. Before saving any changes within the Getting Paid section of your account, always double-check your information for accuracy.



Troubleshoot common issues

When entering a bank account Account holder name or author/publisher information Full Name, follow these guidelines:
  • Ensure these fields exactly match the name or entity associated with your bank account. If this information does not match, we may be unable to deposit payments into your account.
  • When you enter the Full Name for your account, include a space between your first and last name.
  • Use ‘Latin language’ based letters. No symbols or characters should be included in your Account holder name or Full name.
  • Add your bank’s name in the Name of Bank field. This shouldn’t include your name.
  • Do not include Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr., etc. as part of your name.


Unsure what information your bank has on file? Contact your bank for additional information.


Edit bank account

For security purposes, you can't edit an existing bank account's information. To makes changes, go to your account, delete the existing bank account, and then add it as a new account.

To update your bank account:

  1. Sign in to your KDP account: https://account.kdp.amazon.com/account. (https://account.kdp.amazon.com/account)
  2. Complete Two-Step Verification.
  3. When your account page opens, click Getting Paid.
  4. Under Bank Account, click Delete account. Confirm by clicking Delete.

  6. After you delete the account, click Yes. You’ll then be prompted to enter an account.

  7. Add a new bank account following the instructions based on your bank's location. The Account holder name field should match the name or entity associated with your bank account.

Edit author/publisher information

The author/publisher information you provide, such as your full name and address, should match the bank account information you provided in the Getting Paid section.

To update your author/publisher information:

  1. Sign in to your KDP account: https://account.kdp.amazon.com/account. (https://account.kdp.amazon.com/account)
  2. Complete Two-Step Verification.
  3. When your account page opens, click Author/Publisher Information.
  4. Enter your changes, add a date of birth*. Confirm the Full Name and Address fields match the information your bank has on file.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

*If your tax classification is a business, add the date of incorporation instead.

Frequently asked questions

1. Why did you contact me to validate my banking details?

To ensure we can pay you in a timely manner, we may require you to update or verify your banking details. For example, if you change your name, existing bank account information, or sell in a new marketplace, we may ask you to update your banking details to confirm the information in your account matches the information your bank has on file. Incorrect or mismatched information between your KDP account and bank are the most common causes of payment holds.

2. After I update my banking details, how long will it take for the banner on my Bookshelf to be removed?

After you update your banking details, we will review your updates. If we can verify your information, we will remove any associated payment hold and the banner from your Bookshelf. It may take up to 72 hours for us to remove the banner. If we do not remove the banner within 72 hours, we were not able to validate your updates. Please sign into your KDP account and follow these instructions to provide updated banking information.

3. How do I know if an email from KDP to update my banking details is legitimate?

If we need you to verify your banking details, we'll send an email and add a banner to your Bookshelf. To confirm the email is legitimate, check that it came from @kdp-support.amazon.com. Learn more about confirming whether an email is from Amazon. For your security, we will never ask you to email us any updated information and our customer service representatives will never ask you for this information. Please sign into your KDP account and follow these instructions to provide updated banking information.

4. Why are you asking for my date of birth in the Author/Publisher Information section of my account?

We added the date of birth field in your KDP account to help verify your identity with the bank issuing your payment. If your tax classification is a business, add the date of incorporation instead.

5. How do I know my tax classification?

We ask for your tax classification when you complete the tax interview. You can select whether you are an individual or a business. "Individual" includes Sole Proprietors or Single-Member LLCs where the owner is an individual. Learn more about the tax interview.
