To ensure you’re paid on time, it’s important to enter account and banking information that matches the information your bank has on file. Before saving any changes within the
Getting Paid section of your account, always double-check your information for accuracy.
The name provided in Author/Publisher Information should be the legal name of the author. In the Getting Paid section under Tell us about your bank, this name should match the account holder's name associated with the bank account.
Add my bank account
To add a bank account:
- Go to your KDP account.
- Complete two-step verification.
- Under Getting Paid, click Add a bank account.
- Choose your country or region of residence and click OK.
- Follow the steps below matching where your account is located:
Note: After you add your bank account, we’ll work to validate the information provided (name, account number, routing number, and/or IBAN number) to confirm we can pay your royalties within five business days. If we can’t validate your bank details, we’ll send you an email with additional information.
Americas
United States (US)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's Routing number. This nine-digit code appears as the first set of numbers on the bottom of your checks. Your bank can also provide this number to you.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Canada (CA)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's Bank code.
- Enter your bank's Branch code.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Mexico (MX)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number (CLABE).
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Brazil (BR)
- Enter your 8 or 11 character BIC code, also known as a SWIFT code.
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- For Type of account, Checking will automatically be selected. We don't support payments to savings accounts.
- Enter your bank’s 3-digit Bank code.
- Enter the first 4 numbers of your bank's Branch code without dashes or spaces. Branch codes are 4- or 5-digit codes on checks and bank cards, usually next to the account number.
- Enter your Account number without dashes or spaces and verify in the second box. Account numbers are usually the second set of numbers on checks and bank cards.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Africa
South Africa (ZA)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's IBAN number.
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Note: To receive your payments, choose a Purpose of Payment (PoP) (sometimes called Reason for Transfer) on the South Africa Reserve Bank. You must update this information one time per calendar year. If your Purpose of Payment (PoP) expires, Amazon's banking partner will contact you to update it.
Asia - Oceania
India (IN)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's IFSC code.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Japan (JP)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's Bank code.
- Enter your bank's Branch code.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Australia (AU)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's Routing number. This is your six-digit Bank Code (XXYYYY, XX = Bank Prefix, YYYY = Bank Branch). Your bank can also provide this number to you.
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
New Zealand (NZ)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your Account number and verify in the second box.
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Europe
European Union (EU)
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your bank's IBAN number.
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
United Kingdom (UK)
- Choose your bank's currency: British Pounds or Euros.
- In the Account holder name box, enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account.
- Choose the type of account: Checking or Savings.
- Enter your bank's IBAN number.
- Enter your bank's BIC/SWIFT code. This 8- or 11-character code is available by contacting your bank.
- Click Add.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Save to finish updating your payment preferences.
Change my bank account
For security purposes, you cannot edit existing bank account information. To make changes, go to your account, delete the existing bank account, and then add it as a new account.
Delete my bank account
- Go to your KDP account.
- Choose the option on how you want to receive the one-time password (OTP).
- Follow the instructions for two-step verification
- After you receive the OTP, enter it and click OK.
- Click Getting Paid.
- Delete your existing bank account by clicking Delete under the account’s name. Please note this bank account will remain under Deletion pending until you add a new bank account. This to ensure we can always pay for pending royalties.
- Under Getting Paid, click Add another bank account, and follow the prompts to add bank information.
- Click Add to save information. You will be notified with a green check that you’ve added your bank successfully.
- Click Save.
Troubleshoot common issues
When entering a bank account, Account holder name or author/publisher information Full Name, follow these guidelines:
- Ensure these fields exactly match the name or entity associated with your bank account. If this information does not match, we may be unable to deposit payments into your account.
- The name provided in Author/Publisher Information should be the legal name of the author. In the Getting Paid section under Tell us about your bank, this name should match the account holder's name associated with the bank account.
- When you enter the Full Name for your account, include a space between your first and last name.
- Use ‘Latin language’ based letters. No symbols or characters should be included in your Account holder name or Full name.
- Do not include Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr., etc. as part of your name.
Note: If you enter numbers or any non-Latin characters in the "account holder name", you will get a message asking to confirm the information provided. If accurate you can click "Yes" and continue editing your account, if not accurate you can click on "No" and re-enter the account holder name.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if an email from KDP to update my banking details is legitimate?
If we need you to verify your banking details, we'll send an email and add a banner to your
Bookshelf. To confirm the email is legitimate, check that it came from an email address ending in @kdp-support.amazon.com or @accounts-payable.amazon.com.
Learn more about confirming whether an email is from Amazon. For your security, we will
never ask you to email us any updated information and our customer service representatives will
never ask you for this information. Please sign into your KDP account and follow
these instructions to provide updated banking information.
