Gifting for Kindle

You can gift your book to as many people as you like to help promote it. Gifting a Kindle eBook is similar to giving someone an Amazon.com Gift Card. Unlike gifting physical copies of your book, when you gift the eBook, the recipient doesn't receive your title immediately. Instead, the recipient receives a redemption code. The recipient can choose to either accept your gift by redeeming the code, or they can choose to exchange it for a gift card.

Customers can gift titles available through KDP on Amazon.com, either through Wish lists or detail pages.

Title availability for gifting may vary by country. Additionally, free titles and titles available for pre-order are not eligible for gifting. If gifted titles aren't available for gift recipients, they can contact Amazon to exchange the gifts for equivalent value Amazon.com gift cards.

Things to keep in mind when gifting Kindle titles

  • Royalties will accrue only if the recipient redeems the title.
  • There is no time limit on redemption. Recipients can choose to redeem their codes at any time in the future.
  • Your royalties will be based on the price and royalty option selected at the time the Kindle gift was purchased.
  • As with all Kindle sales, gift recipients have the option to return the gift within 7 days of downloading.
  • Your gift recipients can receive your title even if they don't own a Fire tablet or Kindle E-reader. They can read your eBook on a supported Amazon device or Kindle reading app.
