Manage Your KDP Account

Your KDP account is connected to and uses the same credentials as your Amazon customer account. Through your KDP account, you can manage the personal, bank, and tax information you entered while self-publishing eBooks and paperbacks through KDP.

Update name, address, phone number

To update your information:

  1. Sign in to KDP.
  2. Click Your Account at the top of the page.
  3. Follow the instructions for two-step verification.
  4. When your account page opens, update your information.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
  6. Update your information in the tax interview.


Change email address

Whether you created your account at KDP first or used an existing Amazon customer account, you can update your email preferences in Your Account. To change your email address:

  1. Go to the Login & security page of your Amazon account.
  2. Sign in with your current email address and password.
  3. Under the Email section, click Edit.
  4. Enter the new email address and the characters you see in the security challenge.
  5. When you're done, click Save changes.
  6. Go to your KDP account.
  7. Follow the instructions for two-step verification.
  8. When your account page opens, go to the bottom of the page and click Save.

Note: To avoid creating duplicate accounts, remember to confirm and save your information in your KDP account after you make changes.



Edit bank account details

For security purposes, you can't edit an existing bank account's details. You need to go to your account, delete the existing bank account, and then add a new bank account.

  1. Sign in to KDP.
  2. Click Your Account at the top of the page.
  3. Follow the instructions for two-step verification.
  4. When your account page opens, click Getting Paid.
  5. Under Bank Account, click Delete account.
  6. Add a new bank account following the instructions based on your bank's location.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.


Complete or update tax interview

U.S. tax regulations require Amazon to collect information about your tax status under U.S. law using our short online tax interview. This is because Amazon issues payments that can be regarded as income. We must receive and validate your tax identity information before you can update existing books or publish new books in the Kindle store.

To complete the tax interview:

  1. Go to your account page.
  2. Under "My Account," click Tax Information.
  3. Click Complete Tax Information. If you're updating your tax information, click View/Provide Tax Information.

Answer all questions and enter all information requested during the interview. You may retake the interview anytime your information or circumstances change. You can check the status of your tax information anytime under the "Tax Information" section of your KDP Account. Validated tax information will show a Tax Account Status of "Completed."

Where are my books?

If you sign in to your KDP account and don't see your books, you may have signed in with the correct email address but a different password. To fix this:

  1. Sign out of KDP and Amazon.
  2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, and then close your browser.
  3. Open your browser again, go to Your Account, and sign in with the email address and password combination you used to create your profile and upload your books.

Merge accounts

To have your accounts merged, you need to contact us. We need the title of one book from each KDP account and its corresponding ASIN or ISBN. We'll only be able to move the old account if the new account has complete information. If there are royalties pending in your account, please verify that your name, account number, and routing number are current and match the account information on file with your financial institution. This ensures that you receive outstanding royalties.

After you gather the information we need and verify your account details, contact us. We'll move the old account and then confirm that this is done.

Note: Merging your KDP accounts will move your published books from your old KDP account to your new one. However, it won't move old account information (e.g., tax interview details, sales reports, payment information) to the new account.



Close an account

To have your account closed, you need to contact us. Before we can close your account, you need to unpublish available books. If there are royalties pending in your account, please verify that your name, account number, and routing number are current and match the account information on file with your financial institution. This ensures that you receive outstanding royalties.

After you unpublish your books and verify your account details, contact us to authorize the closure your account.
