Multiple accounts
To manage your KDP books efficiently, we recommend you maintain all your KDP books under a single account. Both Amazon and KDP have a policy which prevents creating a second account under a different email address, or under an email address that's associated with an already existing account.
For more information, refer to our Terms and Conditions.
If you have Kindle books published through different KDP accounts, we can merge them all in to one and close the secondary account.
Merge accounts
To have your accounts merged, you'll need to provide the following:
- Ensure to write from the email address associated with KDP account you want to merge to another account.
- Provide a title of one book from each KDP account and its corresponding ASIN or ISBN.
- Have live titles in both account.
- Remove any Ads promoting your KDP titles and re-create new Ads from your new account, if applicable.
- Ensure your bank details information is updated to pay any outstanding royalties. Learn more about updating bank details.
Note: We cannot move specific titles/draft titles from one account to another.
Merging your KDP accounts will move your published books from your old KDP account to your new one. The below information will not be transferred:
- Old account information
- Tax interview details
- Sales reports
- Payment information to the new account
- Active Ads running for your title published in old account
- A+ Content. You can replicate your projects on the new account.
After you gather the information we need and verify your account details, contact us. We'll move the old account information to the new account and then confirm that this is done.
Authorize others to manage your KDP account
We do not recommend multiple users using the same login credentials to access an account.
Here are some potential issues:
- It may be a security risk. For example, if someone with access to the account leaves your company or organization, that person might still be able to log in to the account.
- It would require that all users have access to both the primary and backup devices when they log in.
- If the two-step verification code is being sent to a mobile phone, and the owner of that phone isn’t available, the user trying to log in won’t receive the code.
Manage a deceased author's account
Our team can help you during this difficult time. To request access to a KDP author's account after they have passed away or become incapacitated, please contact us. To access the contact us form, either sign-in or create a free KDP account. - Death certificate
- One of the following court-issued letters indicating that you own the rights to the account:
- Estate Owner
- Next Executor
- Next of kin
- Will
Close an account
To have your account closed, you'll need to do the following:
- Unpublish available books.
- If there are royalties pending in your account, please verify that your name, account number, and routing number are current and match the account information on file with your bank. This ensures that you receive outstanding royalties.
Reopen an account
To reopen an account, you need to contact us. Our team will evaluate the possibility of reopening your account.
