Change your pre-order release

You can change your pre-order release date — either postpone it (push it out) or move it up (pull it in). This applies to pre-orders in 'Pre-order Live' status. This page explains how to do both and what limits apply.

Postpone your release date

If you need more time, you can postpone your release date. The window depends on when your pre-order was created:

  • Pre-order created before September 2, 2026: You can postpone up to 30 days past your current release date.
  • Pre-order created on or after September 2, 2026: You can postpone within 6 months of your originally selected release date.

How many times you can postpone:

  • If your pre-order was created before September 2, 2026: You can postpone one time without penalty.
  • If your pre-order was created on or after September 2, 2026: You can postpone up to 2 times without penalty.

To postpone:

  1. Go to your Bookshelf.
  2. Select the ellipsis button ("…") next to the title.
  3. Select "Edit eBook Pricing."
  4. Update the release date to a later date.
  5. Select "Publish."

After you've used your available postponements, you can't postpone again. If you need more time, you can cancel the pre-order and set up a new one. For details on cancellation consequences, visit Postpone or cancel a pre-order release.

Move up your release date

If your book is ready early, you can move up your release date. There's no limit to how many times you can move up the date.

Before moving up the date, you need to:

  • Upload and submit your final manuscript.

The earliest you can move your release date to is 3 days from today.

To move up your release date:

  1. Go to your Bookshelf.
  2. Select the ellipsis button ("…") next to the title.
  3. Select "Edit eBook Pricing."
  4. Update the release date to an earlier date.
  5. Select "Publish."

All customers who pre-ordered will receive the content on the earlier release date.

Tip: If you want to release your eBook immediately without waiting for the scheduled date, select "I'm ready to release my book now" in the Pre-order section. This option is available if your pre-order is in "Pre-Order Draft" status and your manuscript is ready.

Important reminders

  • Any change to your release date must be made before your submission deadline (72 hours before release).
  • If your manuscript is not uploaded and submitted by the deadline, your pre-order will be canceled.
  • You can't postpone your release date if your pre-order privileges are currently removed. You can still move up your release date.
