You can set up your pre-order via your Bookshelf.
Create an eBook pre-order
To get started with creating an eBook pre-order, follow the below steps:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Click the + Create button.
- Click Create eBook.
- Enter the eBook details in the Kindle eBook Details page.
- Under Pre-order, select Make my Kindle eBook available for Pre-order.
- Choose your release date. You'll see a timer for the pre-order's submission due date.
Note: the release date is in GMT and you can schedule the release date a year in advance. - Click Save and continue to continue.
You can edit your eBook for pre-order while it's in the 'Pre-order Draft' status. Remember to complete and submit your manuscript before the submission deadline. Check pre-order statuses for more information.
Submitting pre-order
When you're ready to submit your pre-order, you must upload your final manuscript file to publish the version of the eBook you want delivered to customers.
Follow the instructions below to submit your pre-order:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Select the ellipsis button ("…") under KINDLE EBOOK ACTIONS next to the eBook you want to update.
- Choose Edit eBook content.
- Under Manuscript, upload the manuscript file that contains the version of the eBook you want delivered to customers.
- Select Save and continue after your manuscript successfully uploads.
- Proceed to finish setting up your book. This includes your cover, and rights and pricing information.
- Click Submit for pre-order.
To successfully submit your pre-order, you must click Submit for pre-order. If you do not make this selection, your pre-order will continue to be in "Draft" status.
Note: If you haven't uploaded a manuscript and your pre-order is in "Draft" status, you must upload your final manuscript and submit your pre-order at least 72 hours before the submission deadline. If you do not submit your pre-order before the deadline, the pre-order will be canceled. You'll lose the ability to edit your eBook and can't set up new pre-orders for a year. Our customer service team cannot unlock your eBook title after the submission deadline.
Pre-order review process
After you submit your pre-order, it will go through the review process. We review your book to ensure it meets our content guidelines.
- If a pre-order book doesn't meet our guidelines, you won't be able to resubmit the same book. Instead, you need to update the manuscript to meet our guidelines and publish it as a new submission.
- If the pre-order meets the guidelines, but we find that information is missing or that updates are required, we will notify you about this. After you submit the required changes, we will review your updates.
We encourage you to finish setting up your pre-order early in the event that changes are needed to meet our publishing guidelines. Refer to pre-order timelines for additional information.
