Accepted IDs for Identity Verification
Below are the IDs we accept for identity verification. Requirements do vary by country. To verify your identity, we encourage you to use a mobile device, as it’s easier to take a photo from your phone or tablet.
Note for PDF uploads: If you upload a PDF, you won’t see a preview of the image on the Identity Verification webpage. HEIC files are only supported while using a Safari browser.
Note for business entities: Use an accepted ID of an authorized representative for your business.
Additionally, we do not accept military IDs, school badges, paystubs, tax documents, or utility bills. Digital IDs and paper IDs of any kind cannot be processed. When verifying, please use an ID that is not printed or copied onto paper.
Note: National IDs are accepted for many countries, however, their specific name varies by country (e.g., the National ID of [country] is referred to as [name]). A National ID is defined as an identity card issued by your government that can be used to prove your identity. These are not IDs issued by state or regional governments, such as a driver’s license.

Accepted IDs
We primarily accept passports, driver’s licenses, and residency permits, but the accepted ID types will vary depending on where you live. Confirm which IDs we accept using the table below. If you do not see your country listed, it means you cannot open a new KDP account in that country.Additionally, we do not accept military IDs, school badges, paystubs, tax documents, or utility bills.
