How to add (or edit) my bank account?

To ensure you get paid, check that the bank account holder name and banking information you provide in the Banking Information section and the address provided under Contact Information matches the information your bank has on file. Before saving any changes within the Banking Information section of your account, always double-check your information for accuracy.

Note: After you add your bank account, we’ll check the information provided (name, account number, routing number, and/or IBAN number) to confirm we can pay your royalties within five business days. If we can’t validate your bank details, we’ll send you an email with additional information.





Add my bank account


To add a bank account:
  1. Go to your KDP account.
  2. Complete two-step verification.
  3. Under Banking Information, click Add a bank account.
  4. Choose your country or region of residence and click OK.
  5. The next field(s) will vary depending on your bank’s location. Refer to the additional bank information fields table below for guidance.
  6. Enter the account holder Date of Birth. If you signed up as a corporation, enter the Date of Incorporation for the entity listed in the Account holder name field under Banking Information.
  7. In the Account holder name box, enter the name of the person or entity associated with the bank account.
  8. Add the Account holder address. You can choose Select Existing Address or Enter a New Address.
  9. Click Add.
  10. Scroll down to the bottom and click Save.

Additional bank information fields
Field Definition Bank Location
Account number Appears on the bottom of your check as a second set of numbers. US, CA, BR, ZA, IN, JP, AU, NZ
Routing number This nine-digit code appears as the first set of numbers on the bottom of your checks. Your bank can also provide this number to you. US
Bank Code Numerical code that identifies a bank or branch. CA, BR, JP
Branch Code Branch codes are codes on checks and bank cards, usually next to the account number. CA, BR, JP
BIC/SWIFT code This code is available by contacting your bank. MX, BR, AU, NZ, EU, UK
BSB Code This is Bank/branch number used as the sort/routing code. ZA, AU
IFSC code An IFSC code, or Indian Financial System Code, is an 11-character alphanumeric code that identifies a bank branch in India. IN
IBAN Number The International Bank Account Number is an internationally agreed upon system of identifying bank accounts. EU, UK
Account number (CLABE) The CLABE (Clave Bancaria Estandarizada) is an 18-digit number that uniquely identifies account holders and guarantees the correct posting of the payments transfer. The receiver can identify his or her CLABE as it appears on the customer's bank account statement or it can also be obtained directly from the customer's bank. MX

Note: For check payments, enter the Check name of the person or entity that will receive the payment. In the Check address field, enter the address of the person or entity where your check payment will be sent. If you signed up as a corporation, you will be required to enter the address where the business was incorporated in the Place of Incorporation field.

Review which payment methods are available to you based on your bank’s location.


Change my bank account


For security purposes, you cannot edit existing bank account information. To make changes, go to your account, delete the existing bank account, and then add new banking details.


Delete my bank account


  1. Go to your KDP account.
  2. Choose the option on how you want to receive the one-time password (OTP).
  3. Follow the instructions for two-step verification
  4. After you receive the OTP, enter it and click OK.
  5. Click Banking Information.
  6. Delete your existing bank account by clicking Delete under the account’s name. Please note this bank account will remain under Deletion pending until you add a new bank account. This to ensure we can always pay for pending royalties.
  7. Under Banking Information, click Add another bank account, and follow the prompts to add bank information.
  8. Click Add to save information. You will be notified with a green check that you’ve added your bank successfully.
  9. Click Save.

Troubleshoot common issues


When entering a bank account, account holder name or contact information, follow the below guidelines:

  • Ensure these fields exactly match the name or entity associated with your bank account. If this information does not match, we may be unable to deposit payments into your account.
  • The name provided in the Contact Information should match the information your bank has on file.
  • The account holder name and address provided in the Banking Information section under Tell us about your bank, should match the information your bank has on file.
  • When you enter the Full Name for your account, include a space between your first and last name.
  • Use "Latin language" based letters. No symbols or characters should be included in your Account holder name or Full name.
  • Do not include Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr., etc. as part of your name.
  • When you add or update your address, make sure the address provided is valid. In the pop-up window, you may see an option to select the address you provided or our suggested address.
Note: If you enter numbers or any non-Latin characters in the Account holder name, you will get a message asking to confirm the information provided. If accurate you can click Yes and continue editing your account, if not accurate you can click No and re-enter the account holder name.

How do I know if an email from KDP to update my banking details is legitimate?

If we need you to verify your banking details, we'll send an email and add a banner to your Bookshelf. To confirm the email is legitimate, check that it came from an email address ending in @kdp-support.amazon.com or @accounts-payable.amazon.com. Learn more about confirming whether an email is from Amazon. For your security, we will never ask you to email us any updated information and our customer service representatives will never ask you for this information. Please sign into your KDP account and follow these instructions to provide updated banking information.
