Seeing How Your Ads Perform

Your advertising report shows how your ads are performing. The report shows how many times your ad was displayed, how many times it was clicked, how many times your book's detail page was viewed by customers who saw or clicked your ad, and how many sales were attributed to your ad.

To see your ad report:
  1. Go to your KDP bookshelf: http://kdp.amazon.com/dashboard
  2. Click "Reports"
  3. On the Reports page, click "Ad Campaigns"
  4. On the Campaign Management page, you'll see your report
We update your campaign data in your Amazon Marketing Services account once a day, but there is usually a delay in tracking the activity from the website and Kindle E-readers. While most of your click and impression data will appear within two days, please allow up to 10 days to see your complete results. Sales resulting from your ad may take up to 14 days to appear. When you stop or pause a campaign, you may continue to accrue clicks for an additional 24 hours.

Kindle E-readers track clicks made offline, and when customers connect to the internet, charges can accrue for up to 10 days after your campaign has ended. These charges are legitimate, but their reporting was delayed. Your final charges will never be more than your campaign budget.

Ad performance

If your ad isn't performing as expected, try reviewing the core components of the ad to see where improvements can be made.
  • Targeting: If you're running a Product Display campaign and are using interest groups, try targeting additional relevant interests. For product targeting, try targeting popular books and authors in your genre. For Sponsored Products, consider expanding your set of keywords to competitive authors, similar titles, or keywords related to your book's genre.
  • Bids: Check to see if your bids are competitive. If your maximum bid is close to the average cost-per-click (CPC), consider increasing your bids.
  • Pacing: Update the campaign pacing to deliver impressions as quickly as possible.
If you've received numerous impressions but want to increase clicks, review your campaign from the eyes of a reader by checking the following:
  • Targeting: Make sure the interest-based targeting is relevant to the book's genre for Product Display campaigns. If it's not, try changing the target interest group. Check to see if keywords on Sponsored Products ads are highly relevant and targeted to your book's genre.
  • Headline: Update your headline to ensure it entices readers with well-written content that's relevant to your book.
  • Custom teaser: The cover of your book should combine art, title, and text to form a cohesive message. Try adding a custom teaser to share insights on the book.
Note: Ad performance data for interest-based targeting includes all eligible placements. This includes your E-reader ads, as they're not broken out from the other Amazon.com placements in your Product Display campaign.

Ad placement

There's no guaranteed way to see where your ad displays as Amazon displays ads based on the customer's interests. You can track your ad performance by logging in to your Amazon Marketing Services account (or navigating to your KDP Bookshelf). You'll see the number of impressions, clicks, detail page views, and total sales resulting from your ads.
