What is the Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR)?

EUDR is a new European Union (EU) regulation that will take effect on December 30, 2025. EUDR aims to prevent the consumption of products within the EU from contributing to deforestation and forest degradation.

The European Commission´s website and FAQs on the Regulation on Deforestation-free products provides useful information on background, objectives, and implementation of EUDR.

Are my books affected?

Kindle Direct Publishing print books sold in the EU must be compliant with EUDR. If you've enabled distribution for print titles in any EU countries, your books are affected.

Are my books compliant?

Kindle Direct Publishing will ensure that books printed by Amazon and sold in EU are compliant with EUDR.

Do I need to gather compliance information?

Amazon will conduct necessary diligence and create relevant due diligence statements for all Amazon-manufactured print titles. For Kindle Direct Publishing print titles sold on Amazon's EU websites (such as Amazon.fr and Amazon.it), Amazon will also maintain compliance records. No action is required from you for Kindle Direct Publishing print titles sold through Amazon's EU Websites. However, if you have purchased owner copies to sell directly in the EU, please note that by end of the year, you will need to contact Amazon directly to obtain necessary compliance information.
