How EU Prices affect Distribution and Merchandising
If you're listing books for sale in the European Union (EU), here's how the Value Added Tax (VAT) laws affect your book's distribution and merchandising:
If you set a lower list price elsewhere than you have set for Amazon, we may discount your price to match it.
You can always set new list prices for your titles on the Rights & Pricing page in your account.
For pre-orders placed before January 1, 2015 for books releasing after January 1, 2015, we will pay your royalty as though VAT were still only 3%.
Kindle Countdown Deals
Following these changes, if you are running a Kindle Countdown Deal in the UK, the list price of your book must be between £1.99 and £15.99, including the VAT. If you have a deal already scheduled or running when the VAT changes take effect, your book will still be eligible to finish that promotion, even if the price does not fit the requirements.
