Contact UsKindle Translate Quality
Translations created using Kindle Translate are held to the high standards customers have come to expect from Amazon. Translations become available to preview and publish only if they meet Amazon's 7-step quality assurance threshold. This threshold evaluates fidelity to the original work, writing style, and idiomatic expressions. It also assesses other literary elements specific to long-form book translation.
We check that we can create a fully formatted translation from the source eBook before evaluating the translation quality. If your eBook isn’t eligible for translation, it may not meet certain formatting or content requirements. Visit our eligibility criteria page for more details.

Quality standards
We evaluate the translation quality based on the number and type of errors. We won't make translations available to preview and publish if they contain many errors or significant ones such as mistranslations.
Quality checks include:
Content accuracy
- Mistranslations
- Idiomatic expressions
- Named entities (proper nouns, titles)
- Additions or omissions of content
Language usage
- Terminology consistency
- Form of address (formal/informal)
- Gender consistency in character references
Technical Elements
- Grammar
- Spelling
Translation quality outcomes
After evaluating translation quality, we’ll update the translation status. This lets you know if the translation is ready for you to preview and publish. The possible translation outcomes are as follows:
| Status | Translation | Quality Check | Action required |
| Ready to publish | Complete | Passed | You can proceed to preview and publish translations. |
| Cannot be published | Complete | Didn't pass | No action is needed. We couldn't create a translation that meets our quality standards due to current technology limitations. |
Note: If you selected Submit for publishing during the translation process, we'll notify you when your translations are live.
Translation quality improvements
We're working to continuously improve our translation service during the Kindle Translate beta.
When we make improvements to our service, we automatically retranslate any Kindle Translate eBook that previously didn’t meet our quality standards resulting in a “Cannot be published” status. Each retranslation goes through our rigorous quality evaluation before it is made available for publishing. You’ll be notified when an improved translation is available for publishing.
As a beta participant, you can complete our feedback survey on Kindle Translate to share further insights with the beta team.
