Paperback Availability (Beta)

During the title setup process, you'll select the territories in which you hold publishing rights for your paperback. If you are certain you have all rights necessary to make this title available worldwide, select "Worldwide rights – all territories."

Worldwide rights will allow customers from around the world to purchase your paperback on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.es, Amazon.it, and Amazon.co.jp.

If you have already set up a Kindle eBook, KDP will use the territorial rights indicated as a default setting for your paperback. You can customize the territories if needed.

If you don't hold worldwide rights to sell and distribute your title, select "Individual territories - select territories." Then, select the territories in which you hold rights. This will limit sales of your paperback to the corresponding Amazon website.

Public Domain Content
If you are publishing public domain content, please note that copyright protection periods vary between countries and indicate your territory rights accurately.

European Union Sales
To comply with EU law, if your book is eligible for sale in one of the 28 European Union countries listed below, it is eligible for sale in all of them:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands (Holland), Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom (UK, including Guernsey, Isle of Man, Ireland, Gibraltar and Jersey).

As a result, your book will be listed on all of Amazon's European websites.

Unpublishing your paperback

To remove your paperback from active publication:
  1. Find the book on your Bookshelf.
  2. Click the ellipsis button ("...") under Paperback Actions next to the book you want to remove.
  3. Select "Unpublish."
Within 24-72 hours, we will stop printing new copies of your paperback to fulfill customer orders.

Third parties may still sell used copies of your paperback on Amazon, so your paperback's detail page will stay live on the website. But customers won't be able to purchase new copies through KDP unless you republish your paperback.

Republishing your paperback

To return an unpublished paperback to active publication:
  1. Find the book on your Bookshelf
  2. Click the ellipsis button ("...") under Paperback Actions next to the book you want to republish.
  3. Select "Edit Paperback Details."
  4. Enter any changes you may have.
  5. Confirm your Territory Rights.
  6. Set your prices
  7. Click "Publish Your Paperback Book" to complete the process.
Republishing a title after it has been removed takes approximately 12 hours.
