Contact UsSetting up pre-orders
You can set up your pre-order from your Bookshelf. This page explains how to create an eBook pre-order and submit it before your deadline.
Create an eBook pre-order
To create an eBook pre-order:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Select + Create.
- Select Create eBook.
- Enter the eBook details on the Kindle eBook Details page.
- Under Pre-order, select Make my Kindle eBook available for Pre-order.
- Choose your release date. You'll see a timer for the pre-order's submission due date.
- Select Save and continue.
Note: The release date is in GMT. You can schedule the release date up to 18 months in advance for pre-orders created on or after September 2, 2026, or up to one year in advance for pre-orders created before September 2, 2026.
You can edit your eBook for pre-order while it's in the "Pre-order Draft" status. Remember to complete and submit your manuscript before the submission deadline. For more information, visit Pre-order timelines.
Submit your pre-order
When you're ready to submit your pre-order, you need to upload your final manuscript file to publish the version of the eBook you want delivered to customers.
To submit your pre-order:
- Go to your Bookshelf.
- Select the ellipsis button ("…") under KINDLE EBOOK ACTIONS next to the eBook you want to update.
- Select Edit eBook content.
- Under Manuscript, upload the manuscript file that contains the version of the eBook you want delivered to customers.
- Select Save and continue after your manuscript uploads.
- Proceed to finish setting up your book, including your cover and rights and pricing information.
- Select Submit for pre-order.
To successfully submit your pre-order, you need to select Submit for pre-order. If you don't make this selection, your pre-order will continue to be in "Draft" status.
Note: If you haven't uploaded a manuscript and your pre-order is in "Draft" status, you need to upload your final manuscript and submit your pre-order at least 72 hours before the release date. If you don't submit your pre-order before the deadline, the pre-order will be canceled. Your pre-order privileges may be removed depending on your account history. For details, visit Postpone or cancel a pre-order release.
Pre-order review process
After you submit your pre-order, it goes through the review process. We review your book to make sure it meets our content guidelines.
- If a pre-order book doesn't meet our guidelines, you won't be able to resubmit the same book. Instead, you need to update the manuscript to meet our guidelines and publish it as a new submission.
- If the pre-order meets the guidelines but we find that information is missing or that updates are required, we'll notify you. After you submit the required changes, we'll review your updates.
We encourage you to finish setting up your pre-order early in case changes are needed to meet our publishing guidelines. For more information, visit Pre-Order statuses.
