Contact UsBook Status
The status of your book indicates where it is in the publishing process. Book status appears next to your title on the KDP Bookshelf. Once you’ve submitted your book for publication, it takes 3 to 10 business days for your book to be Live on Amazon. The time it takes to publish depends on the book type. Book status and definitions
| Book Status | Definition |
|---|---|
| Draft | You’ve started entering book details, but haven’t submitted your book for publication. While in “Draft”, you can edit your details at any time. |
| In Review | Once you’ve submitted your book for publication it goes into review. During review, we check your book to make sure it meets our formatting and content guidelines. If your book was “In Review” and is back in “Draft”, it means we found some things that need to be updated – Check your email for more details from our team. Once you’ve updated your book to meet our guidelines, you can resubmit it for publication and we’ll review it again. While your book is “In Review”, you won’t be able to make changes. Reviews can’t be expedited or canceled. |
| Publishing | Your book has passed review and is being published. While your book is in “Publishing” you won’t be able to make changes. |
| Live | Your book is published and available for purchase on Amazon. If needed, you can edit certain book details. For more information on which details can be edited after publishing, visit our Update Your Book Details page. |
| Live - with unpublished changes | You edited the details of your “Live” book, but haven’t submitted your updates for publication. To submit your updates, follow the steps on our Update Your Book Details page. All updates must pass review before they’re “Live” on Amazon. |
| Live - Updates in review | Your book is available for purchase (“Live”), but the recent changes you made are being reviewed and are not yet published. The review process can’t be expedited or canceled. You also won’t be able to make any additional changes at this time. For information on when updates will be published, visit our Timelines page. |
| Live - Updates publishing | Your book is available for purchase (“Live”), but the recent changes you made are still being published and will be available on Amazon shortly. You won’t be able to make any additional changes until this process is complete. |
| Blocked | Your book doesn’t meet our content guidelines and is blocked from publishing or editing. Blocked titles can’t be deleted from your Bookshelf. If you have concerns about your blocked title, please contact us for more information. |
| Pre-order | Visit our pre-order status page for a complete list of pre-order statuses. | Release Date | Visit our release date status page for a complete list of release date statuses. |
